Ice Rinks
Ice Arena
An 80,000 sq. ft. building, with a maximum occupancy of 2,000 people, was outfitted with a standard chiller and dehumidification system. The building had a standard-size ice area, 12 party rooms, 1 full-size gym, a concession retail outlet and offices.
Problem
Sky-high energy costs, poor ice level visibility, and low indoor air quality prompted management to search for a better solution.
Advantix Solutions
Advantix Systems installed a high-efficiency unit to substantially decrease the building's energy consumption - reducing peak energy demands as well as overall energy usage. To further optimize efficiency, renewable energy sources were leveraged to reduce energy required from the electric grid. Heat from a micro-turbine and solar panels, and cooling from a geothermal source and a cooling tower were used to power DuHandle dehumidification units.
Altogether, Advantix Systems reduced the ice arena's energy consumption by more than 75%.
